Goliath Entertainment – Website

Goliath Entertainment is a French event company that specialises in what they like to call event-engineering. They’ve got a fancy new website to share with the world and it is so much fun to spend time on.

Using a limited colour palette, illustration and some strong typography, this website immediately shows the user exactly what type of company Goliath Entertainment is and what they’re all about. How could you not want to work with them after seeing this site?

You can check it out here.

La Souche – Design

This design project for La Souche by MamboMambo with illustrations by Félix Girard is very special. La Souche is a brasserie and brewery in Quebec and they turned to this dream team to create their corporate identity and packaging.

From gorgeous illustrations through to a nature-inspired colour palette and design language, this entire project feels great from start to finish. In fact, you can check it out in more detail on MamboMambo’s website here. They go into much more detail, which is perfect for all us design nerds. (Bear in mind it is in French, so you may need to get your Google Translate out!)

Dannielle Bowman – Photography

Dannielle Bowman is a photographer based in New York with a massive talent in black and white photography. Her meticulously crafted shots are not just of the highest level technically, but they share and deliver a narrative that is entirely captivating.

We’ve shared a selection of images from her series Here, Now but we strongly suggest you visit her website to see more of her work. It’s nothing short of inspiring.

4 Miles – Multimedia Project

This multimedia project by Olivier Ouendeno and Mathis Biabiany is a journey into four of the most important albums by Miles Davis. Using sharp design, clever development, music, images and film – they bring it all to life in a really special way.

Whether you’re into jazz or not we suggest you check out this website. Not only is it beautifully put together, but it also shows how we as creatives can present information in new, interesting and engaging ways – all thanks to the Internet!

You can visit the project here.

McDonald’s – Print Campaign

This campaign by DDB Prague for McDonald’s is designed to speak directly to gamers – pointing out that no matter what door you might find yourself at (whether in the game world or in the real world) – they’ll be able to deliver to you.

We especially love the art direction and illustration on these executions, really bringing to life these fantastic game worlds where people may find themselves.

Sami Viljanto – Illustration

Sami Viljanto is an illustrator from Helsinki, Finland with not only great skill but a great sense of humour too. He describes himself as a ‘terrible dancer’ and someone who ‘has trust issues with people who like white chocolate’. All we can say is regardless of what type of chocolate you prefer, you’ll be sure to get something out of Sami Viljanto’s work.

You can check out more of it on his website here.

Or on his Instagram account.

Alumni Series – Pamela Potgieter

We are back with our next Alumni Series post. This time we will be looking into the world of Pamela Potgieter (Not Anderson).

*Note: Usually we write these in the third person, but Pamela wrote this so perfectly it felt a shame to change it! So, without further ado, in her own words – Pamela Potgieter (Not Anderson)…

Hello, my name is Pamela Potgieter (Not Anderson). I am a freelance illustrator / artist / designer based in Cape Town, South Africa.

I am fortunate enough to have grown up surrounded by extraordinary natural environments, and have been able to spend a lot of time getting to know and understand the ocean in particular. This has played a big role in influencing the nature and subject matter of my work.

I work with a range of mixed media, but I am particularly interested in drawing, collage and typography.

I am currently exploring my place in the world: Where I fit in; what it means to be a woman in South Africa; how I can do my part to preserve our incredible planet.

In March this year I had my first solo exhibition, At a Time Like This, hosted by Atlas The Label. I have taken part in several group exhibitions including ‘Piece by Piece’ at No End Contemporary Art Space; ‘Pandemic Pandemonium’, The Stellenbosch Academy’s first ever virtual exhibition; and my work will soon be featured in the Zeitz MOCAA’s ‘Home Is Where The Art is’ exhibition.

I have worked on commercial projects for brands such as Vans, RVCA’s The Store, The Poké Co., Anna Rosholt jewellery, Donford BMW Motorrad, and Workshack. I have also collaborated on clothing ranges and merchandise with Temple of Reason menswear brand, Atlas The Label and Burgeon&co. One of my favourite projects has been the surfboard design I did for the Waves For Change Surfboard Auction in 2019. My Not Anderson clothing range was featured in ‘Freestyle: Illustrating Urban Fashion’ , a book by Sandu Publishing.

I was also fortunate enough to collaborate on some projects with Studio Kronk, including work for Edgars’ Sho Madjozi Collection, Zig Zag magazine, and Studio Kronk itself.

In between, I’ve been doing commission work for clients, ranging from custom wallpaper designs and logo designs to drawings and prints.

I am currently working on a personal project called ‘The Little Things’, which is an ongoing hand-drawn series in appreciation of the small and beautiful creatures I’ve seen whilst diving and exploring the rock pools at home on the coast of the Western Cape.

I have some new projects in the works, both personal and commercial, which I will hopefully be able to share with you soon.

To see more of Pamela’s work, you can visit her Behance page here.

And you can find her on instagram here.

For Finland – Packaging

This design by Santeri Lohi for 5 o’c Brewing is an embodiment of the joys of Finnish summer. The beer itself is homebrewed, which means the brewer used recycled glass bottles, all of slightly differing shapes to bottle the beer. The design followed this idea, with multiple label options, each simply laid out, with a gorgeous picture of the Finnish summer taking centre stage in the design.

How could you not enjoy a beer packaged like this?

IKEA – Print Campaign

We love this work by Mother London for IKEA. To advertise IKEA’s bedroom furnishings and linen, they used the insight that ‘tomorrow starts tonight’ and built from there. This led them to create some really smart print and outdoor executions that reimagine IKEA’s bedroom items like pillows and duvets as other products.

Classic, hard-hitting print advertising. Perfect!
