Madbox – Multimedia

What a great way to bring your company’s values to life! Madbox is a game developer and their corporate website shows their skills in multimedia design as well as what they stand for.

Users on the site can even take a quiz to see if they’d be a good fit to work at Madbox – what a smart way to get potential new hires involved! We love it!

You can visit the site here.

Who knows – if you take the quiz you could even find yourself working there!

Stellenbosch Alumnus wins at the New Generation Awards!

A few weeks back we announced that for the first time ever, we have nominated a Multimedia Graduate to partake in the New Generation Awards.

The New Generation Social & Digital Media Awards, has an established reputation as the largest independent social and digital media awards on the South African calendar.

We have just been notified that Nina Roodbol has in fact won Gold in the category of Individual Student of the Year! We are so proud of you Nina, congratulations!

Nina’s project of 2020, “Insight” was entered into the Outstanding Student in Social & Digital Media category – this specific award recognises individual excellence in conceptualisation and innovative use of communication curriculum content to develop a digital campaign that promotes community stakeholder engagement, with excellent use of resources to drive positive community impact through active citizenship.

Yakushima Treasure – Multimedia

This multimedia concert experience by Dentsu Creative X and Dentsu Craft Tokyo is something you really need to experience to appreciate. With 3D sound and the ability to view the experience from multiple different angles (which is not possible in the real world) – this is really special.

You can check it out here.

Don’t forget your headphones!

DUEBA Organic Wine – Packaging

This work by Javier Garduńo for DUEBA Organic Wine adds a real playful touch to box wine packaging we love. To pay homage to bees, who are a well-known symbol of organic farming and sustainability – he designed a box that allows you to create an actual bee shape, when you pull out the correct tabs.

We can’t get enough of this!

Alzheimer Athens – Print Ad

This print ad for Alzheimer Athens by outtolunch, a local agency based in Athens, makes the really great point. Even though there are loads of things in our lives we may want to forget – dementia doesn’t allow us to choose which those are.

What a great way to help people understand what dementia and Alzheimer’s can do.

Brook – Art Direction

Brook is a national charity in the UK that focuses on clinical sexual health services and education and wellbeing services for young people. This campaign by Grey London tackles the issue of sending unsolicited nudes to people online.

And while this is not always the easiest thing to talk about in public, they’ve done a great job (with some amazing illustration) showing people that it’s not okay to do so. We particularly love the placement of the QR code – very smart!

Thibaud Poirier – Photography

To finish off this week of inspirational photography, we’re sharing work from Thibaud Poirier. Poirier is a Parisian photographer who has spent a lot of time capturing the architectural beauty of modern churches and temples in a series called Sacred Spaces. Today, we’re sharing just a small selection to give you a taste – we do suggest you visit his website when you have a minute!

You can see more of Poirier’s amazing photography on his website here.

Dasha Pears – Photography

For our second photographer we’re featuring this week, let’s turn our eyes to Finnish photographer Dasha Pears.

She focuses on “surreal stories about the real world”, and when you look at her work, you can see exactly why she would describe it in this way. She has created an entire visual and emotive language in her photographs that we find absolutely incredible.

You can learn more about her on her website here.

And you can follow her on Instagram here.

Raf Maes – Photography

This week is photography week! We’ll be sharing three photography projects from Monday to Friday that we’re really excited about. To kick off, let’s look at work by Raf Maes.

Raf Maes is a photographer and co-founder of accessory brand KOMONO, who lives in Antwerp. Today, we’re sharing images he took in Venice, Los Angeles that bring to life the moody mists and wonderful waves in the ocean in the area.

What a lovely set of images!

You can see more of Maes’ work on his Instagram account here.

3rd Year Multimedia Short-film 2021 – Poetic Apocalypse

The 3rd year Multimedia Students of the Stellenbosch Academy of Design & Photography cordially invite you to view their annual short film project, this year titled:

P O E T I C  A P O C A L Y P S E

~

towards the dead of night
new daybreak excites
in these poetic times
through strife and crime
the beacon of the light
the last hopeful sight
the apocalypse grips tight
towards the dead of night

~

Another year of pandemic trounced, distraught and disillusioned youths bare forward as they bravely, undeterred, still fight forwards.

In the wake of perils, strife, and clouded future outcomes, these brave creative soldiers once again tear through the shackles of hindrances strewn on their future paths of success.

Landmines of loss and hardships stir their concerns, still, they bear forward, as they unrelentingly fight through their poetic apocalypse.

The Multimedia Design Studies 3rd year at the Academy worked extremely hard in completing this year’s annual short film, collectively titled Poetic Apocalypse.

This year’s short film took on a different spin – it combined film, animation, and motion graphics, encapsulated by narrated poems of famous writers, the 2021 film short-film promises to be exciting, interactive, and very different than before.

The students launched the project live online here, however you can view each individual short-film below.
