Burger King – Whopper of a Secret

Burger King is known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to their advertising, and their fun, irreverent voice is always interesting. Their agency in the UK, BBH, brought this to life in the most amazing way – photographing Big Mac hamburgers behind every single Whopper they photographed throughout the year, proving that the Big Mac was indeed ‘smaller’ than the Whopper.

Burger King – Art Basel Ad

If you’ve been following the art world’s latest furore, you’ll know all about Maurizio Cattelan’s infamous banana, which he sold at Art Basel for $120 000. Without passing judgement on whether that is worthy or not… we had to share this work by Buzzman Paris Burger King. We just love the way it pokes fun at the work and reminds us all that Burger King fries are a whole lot cheaper than $120 000 bananas!

Burger King – Outdoor Campaign

This campaign by Buzzman Paris takes the usual fast food outdoor advertising and turns it on its head. We’re so used to seeing ‘wayfinding’ outdoor ads that point to where a fastfood outlet is, that these really break through the clutter – telling you there ISN’T a Burger King close by, but that’s not a problem because you can have it delivered.

Perfect!

Burger King – Print Campaign

Here’s a bit of a self-referential one from Buzzman Paris for Burger King. To show how they were making sure their new meal deal was as cheap as possible, they created ads that looked half done, with bad layouts and copy editing mistakes.

So smart! And such a great thing to do when you have an audience who can understand messages like this. We love it!

Burger King – Print Campaign

Burger King has a pretty strong differentiating factor when it comes to other large fast food burger chains, and that is that their burgers are all flame grilled. This campaign by Buzzman Paris for Burger King Belgium brings the flame-grilled factor right to the foreground! Using a bunch of smart illustrations, these ads show how important flames can be to make things more exciting. With the payoff line: Always better with fire – you very quickly see just what it is that makes Burger King different to all the others.

This recent packaging for Burger King Global from CrispinPorter+Bogusky, with illustrations by David Iglesias is a great example of how large, global brands can use really good design and illustration to make things more appealing.

Whether you’re a fast food fan or not, you have to appreciate the craft and quality of this design and illustration. You can really see how much work went into this!
