Taking self portraits on a skateboard is not the easiest thing to do, and if you think about what self portraits have become (hastily taken cell phone shots in a bathroom or a bedroom), the concept of a self portrait has become somewhat diluted in the mainstream media.
But enter Fabiano Rodrigues, an ex professional skateboarder from Brazil who has turned the idea on its head (and hopefully without falling on his head too many times). Armed with nothing but his trusty Hasselblad and a remote, Fabiano finds the perfect spaces to frame his shots and then using luck, intuition and great timing – he takes photos of himself mid-action.
The idea is simple and yet so clever, and the images themselves are beautiful.
Who said selfies had to be annoying?
